Education and Outreach

We believe strongly in the importance of music as part of a young person's education, and each year we reach hundreds of students in San Juan Island's public schools with outreach performances.

These students get front row access to our musicians' skill and passion, and are exposed to new musical concepts, composers, and instruments. We also partner with the high school to bring motivated students into our organization as volunteers and stage hands.

We bring our music into the community with pop-up concerts around Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor featuring small combinations of Collective members, as well as playing at the Saturday morning Farmer's Market at the Brickworks. This is a great opportunity for folks to engage and ask questions of our musicians, while hearing a preview of the larger-scale chamber music concerts.

Students 18 and under are always invited to our concerts for free. We want to encourage in them the passion and excitement that we all found at a young age, and continue to enjoy!

Every summer before the festival begins, we perform a live concert on Seattle's classical music station, KING FM 98.1, which reaches a world-wide community, and garners excitement for the music-making ahead.

Stay tuned for 2024's Broadcast date!
